A child, as he grows, needs to be encouraged to look keenly, notice more and more details and to be quick in observing the change in his surroundings.

Here are a few activities to sharpen the eyes - Observe the sky.

Show the child

1
How do the clouds change their shapes?
2
The colour of the sky in the day and at sun rise and sun set.
3
Watch the rain, swaying of the plants and trees as the wind blows and the running rain water on the road.
4
It is amazing to see a rainbow.
5
Watch the sky in different season. – rainy season solid grey sky, white cotton clouds of winter and clear blue sky on a summer day.
6
Look at the beautiful sun’s rays shining down through the cloud, when the sun is behind a cloud.

It is an amazing experience to watch nature. Nothing is permanent. There is a continuous change. Each variation has its own beauty and grandeur.  Nature brings out the best in us.

It is more than enough, if everyday three to five minute is spent looking at the sky. Once the child starts looking at things keenly; he himself will start pointing out, as he observes.
