Reptiles are vertebrates, cold blooded animals. They have scales on their body. A Baby reptile comes from an egg.

Dinosaurs were reptile that lived 130 million yeas back.
Reptiles came from Amphibians 300 million years back.


Snake– Snakes - glide to move. A few snakes live in water, and swim in water. A snake eats animals from small to big. Some kill the animals before eating. Some eat live animals. Some snakes are highly poisonous and most are harmless.

Lizards – come in various sizes. The biggest lizard is Komodo.

Crocodiles and Alligators look more like a lizard. They live in water. They move slowly from water to catch land animal. They have sharp teeth. Some times they eat animals that come to drink water. Their tails help them to swim. The snout helps to breathe in water. They come to the bank of the river to sleep. They live both in river water and in sea.

Tortoises – have shells on their back. In danger they pull their head and limbs inside the shell. The shell is heavy and it slows down their movement. They do not have teeth. Tortoises live on land. Turtles live in water -both in the river and the sea.
