Drawing is something which every child loves doing. It is a great way to develop their creativity and bring out the image they have in their mind. When your kids draw, they improve their imaginations and start to think creatively. As kids, they might struggle with getting specific shapes and strokes thus we need to teach them how to draw.

The following are some of the ways you can teach your kids to draw:

Learn to draw:

First of all, if you do not know how to draw then you will not be able to show your child how to draw. Thus make sure that you have recollected your old memories of painting and then plan to teach your kids on how to draw.

Teach your kids various shapes and sizes:

One of the most important things a child needs to understand is the shape and size of everything. Once they know that an elephant is big and an ant is small, they will know how to draw accordingly. For older children, you can teach the attachments of hands and legs with the body and similar details like that.

Getting the strokes right while colouring:

One of the main mistakes which children make is by getting the strokes wrong. Tell them that these strokes need to be of the same pattern and direction. You also need to tell them that they need to try not to colour outside the line of the picture.

To avoid colouring outside the line, you can tell your child to draw a thick outline, and thus they will be remained not to colour outside the picture.

Be extremely polite:

It is very important to understand these kids are very little and that they take time to grasp what you are trying to tell them. You need to make sure that you are never rude to them and always make it a habit of appreciating their work. Only when you appreciate their drawings, they will be encouraged to draw more. You can first tell them how brilliant their picture is and then tell them the points where they can do a lot better in the next picture.

Holding their hands and helping them move:

As a parent, you can hold the hands of your kids and teach them how to move the pencil to make perfect strokes. As you hold their hand, they will be familiar with the stroke pattern and learn to draw better.

Drawing by looking a picture:

You can encourage your kids to draw a picture by looking at something. When they look at an object or a picture, their observation grows, and they will learn to correlate one image with another; once the kids become better, you can ask them to draw without looking at the picture or the object.
